The Episcopal Café seeks to be an independent voice, reporting and reflecting on the Episcopal Church and the Anglican tradition.  The Café is not a platform of advocacy, but it does aim to tell the story of the church from the perspective of Progressive Christianity.  Our collective sympathy, as the Café, lies with the project of widening the circle of inclusion within the church and empowering all the baptized for the role to which they have been called as followers of Christ.

Our guiding values are honesty, curiosity, generosity, courage, integrity and joyfulness and our work should be guided by the ethical guidelines of the Society of Professional Journalists;

The Lead – Contributing Editor

Lead Contributing Editors are responsible for posting 2-3 stories on a given day of the week, every week.  In addition, they are responsible for posting on our Facebook and Twitter pages as well as monitoring comments in accord with our commenting policy.  Primarily, the Lead is a news aggregation service, finding stories relating to our mission and sharing them with our audience.  The CE is expected to be able to work independently to source and post stories.

The Magazine – Editor

The Magazine is our features section. We publish timely posts submitted by guest writers, almost exclusively on weekends. The person who would be great for this position will be able to grammatically edit and publish posts to the Episcopal Cafe site and to Facebook through Creator Studio. Following social media and Episcopal Cafe hashtags would be helpful also, in case a post gets traction.

The Magazine – Pop Culture Reviewer

Movies, music, TV shows, and more.  If you love pop culture and wonder about its underlying spirituality or how pop culture connects with faith; this is the role for you.  We’re looking for people to reflect on pop culture on a regular and ongoing basis to help guide our readers in their own consumption of culture and to help us see God throughout our lives.
